    In Castle Pines, interior and exterior details were installed, including our book sorter, landscaping and concrete. Construction fencing was removed. In Lone Tree, parking lot gutters and asphalt were installed and exterior stucco was completed. Carpet installation began. In Parker, we began framing interior walls, finished sheathing exterior walls, and installed the roof membrane.

    In Castle Pines, paint, tile and carpet were being completed on the second floor, while drywall painted and ceiling tiles and carpet installed on the first floor. In Lone Tree, drywall was hung and painted and the exterior brick completed, and in Parker, HVAC ducts and electric conduit installed.

    At Castle Pines, mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-in was finished, the elevator installed, and drywall painted. First and second floor interiors were framed and interior drywall hung at Lone Tree and steel on the east side of Parker completed.

    The first and second floors of Castle Pines were framed and interior walls completed. Exterior walls were framed in Lone Tree and first floor concrete slab poured in Parker.

    First and second floor concrete decks were poured in Castle Pines, concrete slab poured on the second floor in Lone Tree, and foundations completed and backfilled in Parker.

    Excavation was completed in Castle Pines and Lone Tree, where work on foundation footings also began. Digging in Parker began July 13, with foundation work scheduled to begin in early August.

    The Cherry Creek Valley Rotary Club of Parker donated $10,000 to the Parker library, where their name will grace the Fusion media lab. This digital creativity space features technology for creating short films, videos, animation and music, in addition to digitizing photos and home videos.

    Ground breakings took place at the three libraries: May 4 in Lone Tree, May 11 in Castle Pines, and May 18 in Parker. Library Director Bob Pasicznyuk, town and city mayors, and community dignitaries were on hand to hear comments and answer questions.

    Douglas County Libraries announced it will break ground on the construction sites of three new libraries on successive Mondays in May. The public was invited to join in the festivities and hear comments from Library Director Bob Pasicznyuk, mayors, and other community dignitaries.

    Fransen Pittman, general contractor for the new Parker, Lone Tree and Castle Pines libraries, held two job fairs, answering questions and providing informational packets to interested subcontractors.

    It was announced the three new libraries would share common themes in each of their communities: two-story contemporary designs, natural and locally-sourced materials, and civic spaces all play major roles in the layout of each library. They also have special features unique to their locations: a community room and outdoor roof terrace in Castle Pines; a covered porch entry and a perforated metal solar veil in Lone Tree; and views of the town’s planned park and plaza and rooms that overlook Main Street in Parker.

    Douglas County Libraries revealed floor plans, 3-D models and design details for the new libraries at three community open houses: Oct. 21 in Parker, Oct. 29 in Castle Pines, and Nov. 3 in Lone Tree.

    Leaders from Douglas County Libraries, Anderson Mason Dale Architects and Studiotrope Design Collective were on hand for a Community Open House on Tuesday, September 23 at Seasons 52 in Lone Tree. They discussed what was in store for the libraries planned in Castle Pines, Lone Tree and Parker.

    Preliminary plans for the new Parker Branch call for 40,000-45,000 square feet on two floors, with a minimum of 150 parking spaces. The new Lone Tree Branch will boast 25,000-30,000 square feet; the new Castle Pines Branch 10,000-15,000 square feet.

    Fransen Pittman Construction Company, Inc., was selected as general contractor, following a rigorous solicitation and vetting process. The firm was chosen from among five finalists on the strength of their pre-construction services, fee proposal, experience with library construction – including large simultaneous projects – and overall team strength.

    The Project Team was formed with members that include representatives of our partners, Anderson Mason Dale Architects and Studiotrope Design Collective, and Douglas County Libraries staff. The Project Team began meeting weekly.
