Despite near record rainfall in June and July, construction on new Douglas County Libraries (DCL) buildings in Castle Pines, Lone Tree and Parker is progressing.
Excavation is complete on sites in Castle Pines and Lone Tree, where work on foundation footings has also begun. Digging began in Parker on July 13, and foundation work is scheduled to begin in early August.
“The rain did delay our schedules a bit,” said DCL facilities manager Rick O’Dell, adding, “Our contractor will begin working on Saturdays to make up the lost time.”
Despite the unforeseen delays, the library district expects foundations on all sites to be finished by mid-October. Live web cameras will help the public keep abreast of construction progress beginning in early August.
